2. Immovable Obstructions (Rule 16)

An " immovable obstruction" is defined as "any obstruction that cannot be moved without unreasonable effort or without damaging the obstruction or the course and otherwise does not meet the definition of a moveable obstruction". The rules generally provide free relief from obstructions on the golf course. Sinage posts, drain covers, fixed yardage / distance posts, fixed plates and the wall to the right hand side of the 9th hole are to be treated as immovabele obstructions from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1. Relief is not allowed to be taken under Rule 15.2

All fixed sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions and relief withoutu penalty is available under Rule 16.1b. In addition, if a ball lies in the general area and an immovable obstruction on or within two club-lengths of the putting green and within two club-lengths of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief without penalty as follows: The ball must be lefted and dropped at the nearest point of complete relief to where the ball lay that a) is not nearer the hole, b) avoids intervention and c) is not in a penalty area or on the putting green. there is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.

4. Roads and Paths (Rule 16)

All artificially surfaced roads and paths are immovable obstructions (Rule 16.1a applies). The ball may be played as it lies, or relief may be taken without penalty by lifting and dropping the ball within one club-length of and not nearer the hole than the nearest point of relief.

5. Abnormal Course Conditions (Rule 16.1)

a. Hoof marks and tractor tyre marks on the fairway can be treated as abnormal course conditions and relief obtained under Rule 16.1b.

b. Winter greens which are not in play are defined as wrong greens and relief must be taken under Rule 13.1f.

6. Embedded Ball (Rule 16)

A ball embedded in the General Area of the course may be lifted, cleaned and dropped, without penalty, in accordance with Rule 16.
